What is sheet metal?
Sheet metal is a comprehensive cold working process for metal sheets with a thickness of less than 6mm. The sheet metal process includes cutting, punching/cutting/synthesizing, folding, riveting, splicing, forming (such as car body), etc. The notable feature of sheet metal is that the thickness of the same component is uniform.
The most important steps in general sheet metal processing are cutting, punching/cutting, folding/rolling, welding, surface treatment, etc.
Sheet metal processing generally involves manual or mold stamping to cause plastic deformation of sheet metal, thereby obtaining the desired shape and size. More complex parts can also be formed through further welding or minimal mechanical processing. For example, chimneys, iron furnaces, and car casings are commonly made of metal sheets in households.
Sheet metal is a very thin sheet metal part that can be processed through stamping, bending, and stretching. The general definition is that sheet metal parts have a constant thickness during the processing.
Sheet metal processing includes traditional cutting, cutting, bending, forming methods and process parameters, as well as various cold stamping die structures and process parameters, various equipment working principles and operating methods, and new processing technologies such as stamping. The processing of sheet metal parts is called sheet metal processing.
Modern sheet metal technology includes: filament power winding, laser cutting, heavy-duty processing, metal bonding, metal stretching, plasma cutting, rolling forming, sheet metal bending, die forging, water jet cutting, precision welding, etc.
The thickness of sheet metal material is 0.5-6 mm, and the maximum width is 2500mm.
